How to Enter a Vendor Credit

The Enter Credit feature in Vendors is used to apply a credit to a vendor.

To enter vendor credit:

  1. Click on Vendors > New Transaction > Enter Credit.
  2. Select the vendor.
  3. To enter the vendor credit there are two options: 
    1. Option 1 - Enter the Original Reference or Invoice Number that the user is applying the credit to. If an original reference or invoice number was selected then the credit must be applied to the same client or general ledger that was assigned on the original invoice.

          b.    Enter the code (disbursement code)

          c.    The code selected will apply GST and PST  as assigned in the disbursement code list

         d.  Option 2 - Enter new reference/invoice number

        c.    A message will confirm.

    d.    Select Yes.  The credit can be applied to any client/matter or general ledger as required.

   e.    A vendor credit entered to a client as a disbursement will display in the client's disbursement ledger.

          

4.    Enter the total amount.

5.     Select the client number or the G/L number.

               a.     If the credit needs to be issued to client, enter C for client.

                b.    If the credit needs to be issued to G/L, enter G for general ledger.

 6.    Enter the code (disbursement code).

7.     Enter the amount and the GST and PST if applicable.

8.     Click on Post and Close.


Tips:

  • When applying a credit, the Invoice number to which the credit needs to be entered should be unpaid or partially paid.
